Royce Wayne Williams

June 20, 1952 ~ March 23, 2018 (age 65)

Royce Wayne Williams, 65, of White, GA died peacefully with his family by his side on March 23, 2018 ending his courageous six-year battle with Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumors (GIST).

Royce was born June 20, 1952 in Clarkson, KY. He graduated from

Clarkson High School in 1971 and earned a degree in business from the University of Kentucky system in 1976. He served in the United States Army as a Specialist 4th Class from 1972-1974. During his service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Sharpshooter M16 Medal. He worked as a General Manager and Dealer Principle of various automobile dealerships in Charleston, SC where he resided for 25 years. He was a member of the National Auto Dealers Association and the South Carolina Auto Dealers Association.

As a young man, Royce enjoyed playing a variety of sports, including baseball and basketball.  In later years, he coached youth basketball and was an avid sports fan, especially enjoying football and thoroughbred horse racing. He also loved traveling and was an ardent gardener.  Many of his most enjoyable days were spent working on various projects in his garden. 

Royce believed in living life to its fullest, and he brought love and laughter to everyone he met.

Royce is predeceased by his parents Rhea Williams, née Decker, and Dillard Williams and by his brother, Winifred Williams (Wilma) of Elizabethtown.

He is survived by his spouse Donna, née Collard, of White, GA and daughter Brittany Danielle Williams (Matthew Simon) of Los Angeles, CA.  He is also survived by his siblings: Denny Williams (Marcella) of Shepherdsville, Jenny McKinney (Bobby) of Rineyville, Odeline VanMeter (Harold) of Leitchfield, Darrell Williams (Darlene) of Shepherdsville, Sue Embry (Doyle) of Leitchfield, and Bryan Williams (Jeannie) of Charlestown, IN, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Memorial service will be held on Sunday, April 15, 2018, at 11:30 a.m. CDT at the Clarkson Community Center, 213 Millerstown St., Clarkson, KY 42726. Interment to follow at Antioch General Baptist Church Cemetery, 7915 Peonia Road, Clarkson, KY at 1:00 p.m. CDT.
